Update CUDA benchmarks for the FP16 trunk kernels - #63
Conversation
Measure the current master (61bca38) for the README. On an RTX 4090 with 16 CPU cores, full VoxConverse dev now takes 40.9 s with cuda (1786x) and 22.0 s with cuda-fast (3325x), the median of 3 runs. DER is unchanged at 7.0% and 7.4%. VoxConverse test runs at 1921x and 3722x. The 10-file table now has 16 CPU cores on every GPU and new T4, A10, L4, A100 and RTX 4090 values. pyannote wasn't rerun, so the docs now say its rows come from an earlier container with the same configuration and that the speedups compare separate runs. They also note that the speakrs timings use the batch API.

The README provides hardware and run counts, and the Reproduce section provides generic commands. The checked-in VoxConverse records contain only aggregate times. They do not expose the raw samples, exact invocation, source/build identity, correctness status, or speedup ratio direction. A reader cannot recompute the three-run median or reproduce the same build. The single-run Test rows also provide no variance data.

Say in the README header and the speedup sentences that pyannote ran earlier, note that the VoxConverse test row is one run on driver 595.99.02, and attribute WAV decoding to the worker threads that feed the batch API.

Updates the README, crate docs and
benchmarks/with numbers measured on the current master, after the FP16 trunk, resident LSTM and epilogue changes (#56 to #62).What changed
VoxConverse dev on an RTX 4090 (16 CPU cores, 8 GiB, driver 580.126.18; median of 3 runs in one container):
cuda: 63.4 s → 40.9 s (1153x → 1786x)cuda-fast: 36.8 s → 22.0 s (1985x → 3325x)VoxConverse test on an RTX 4090: one run each on another container (driver 595.99.02).
cuda1921x andcuda-fast3722x, with DER unchanged at 11.1% and 11.2%.pyannote comparison: pyannote can't be rerun on that host. Its rows stay at 2301.3 s (dev) and 6341.3 s (test), and the text now says they ran in an earlier container with the same configuration, so the speedups (about 56x and 105x on dev) compare separate runs.
Tested NVIDIA GPUs table: the 10-file VoxConverse subset, median of 3 runs, now with 16 CPU cores on every GPU instead of 2 on the non-4090 cards. The text now says these times include process start-up and model loading.
cudaBatch API note: the docs now say the speakrs timings use the batch API (
run_batch_stream).Older rows: the other datasets' rows and the cuDNN comparison are labelled as coming from an earlier version.
