On a CP1252 output stream, the documentation auditor raises UnicodeEncodeError when printing its success or failure glyphs, so even a completed audit can lose its exit result and summary. Use ASCII OK:/FAIL: labels in all four status/summary locations, preserving validation, diagnostics, failure counts and exit codes.

Add real CLI regressions for successful and failed audits with PYTHONIOENCODING=cp1252. Regenerate the curated Pi script and refresh the canonical registry digest without changing triggers.

Validation: 111 documentation-audit tests pass on Linux; both CP1252 regressions and the existing missing-Git case pass on Windows (3 passed). Ruff and diff checks pass. The official context-profile validator passes all 34 projections across 311 skills. Pi rebuild followed by git diff --exit-code pi/core is clean.

ECC Tools / PR Risk Taxonomy

Commit: b40065bd2c782782dce761c063528d0f83d27def

PR taxonomy review recommended (neutral)

Detected 4 PR taxonomy bucket(s): Harness Drift, Install Manifest Integrity, Reference Set Validation, Agent Config Review.

Scanned 4 changed file(s).

Roadmap taxonomy buckets:

Harness Drift

Harness-facing changes can drift across Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode, and shared adapter surfaces.

Signals:

  • 1 harness-facing path(s) changed

Paths:

  • skills/docs-governance/scripts/audit-docs.py

Install Manifest Integrity

Install manifests, plugin metadata, and shipped skills should stay synchronized with user-facing setup guidance.

Signals:

  • Install or operator docs may drift from the shipped surface
  • 1 install or manifest path(s) changed

Paths:

  • skills/docs-governance/scripts/audit-docs.py

Reference Set Validation

AI, analyzer, skill, agent, command, and harness guidance changes should be compared against a maintained eval, golden trace, benchmark, or reference set.

Signals:

  • AI or harness analysis changes may ship without reference-set validation
  • 1 reference-sensitive path(s) changed

Paths:

  • skills/docs-governance/scripts/audit-docs.py

Agent Config Review

Agent, command, skill, MCP, and local instruction changes should be reviewed as executable agent configuration.

Signals:

  • 1 agent-config path(s) changed

Paths:

  • skills/docs-governance/scripts/audit-docs.py

📝 Summary

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Bug Fixes
    • Documentation audit results now use clear OK: and FAIL: text labels instead of status symbols. This makes success and failure messages easier to read in environments with limited character encoding support. Audit exit behavior remains unchanged.

The documentation audit scripts now use OK: and FAIL: status prefixes. A regression test checks successful and failing audits under CP1252 encoding. The skill-trigger manifest also has an updated registry digest.

Use stdout-configured logging only if adopting the Python guidance.

The guidance recommends logging for edited Python files, but it does not make this replacement a mandatory CLI contract. If you adopt it, configure message-only logging to sys.stdout; the audit tests require the status and summary output in stdout. Then regenerate the mirrored script.

RetriggerView in GreptileConfidence Score: 5/5

[Low impact] Safe to merge within the reviewed scope; no blocking or non-blocking issues were found.

Summary

Replaces success and failure glyphs with ASCII OK: and FAIL: labels in the canonical documentation auditor and its Pi copy. Adds real CLI regressions with PYTHONIOENCODING=cp1252 and updates the registry digest without changing triggers.

All 111 tests in the affected module passed, including both CP1252 regressions and the existing missing-Git case. Before-and-after execution of the canonical and Pi CLIs confirmed that successful and failed CP1252 audits now complete with the expected summaries, diagnostics, failure counts, and exit codes. Validation used Linux subprocesses with CP1252 output encoding, not native Windows. The prior review also recorded a passing git diff --check.

No actionable issues found. This change is safe to merge based on the reviewed scope and passing checks.

  • Documentation audits show their results on CP1252 output streams.
