fix(cmake): Don't let CPM redirect find_package(Xxhash) for header-only xxhash - #25124
xxhash is fetched with DOWNLOAD_ONLY: it is header-only and has no CMake
package. CPM still writes a find_package redirect for it, so every later find_package(Xxhash) in the same build, including one made by another
project's package config, resolves to an empty stub. The stub reports the
package as found but defines no targets.
This breaks FBThrift when libcudf is built as part of a larger project.
FBThrift's config calls find_package(Xxhash MODULE) expecting its own FindXxhash.cmake to define Xxhash::xxhash. The redirect answers instead, so
the target is never created and CMake generation fails on the FBThrift targets
that link it. Reproduced in Velox with cuDF enabled: facebookincubator/velox#19909.
Set CPM_DONT_UPDATE_MODULE_PATH inside find_and_configure_xxhash so no
redirect is written for xxhash. The variable is function-scoped, so other CPM
packages keep their redirects. libcudf builds its own xxhash INTERFACE target
and does not use the redirect.

Avoid public exposure of the xxhash interface library
fix(cmake): Avoid public exposure of the xxhash interface library
Nov 6, 2026
Improved xxhash dependency detection during builds, helping projects that use xxhash configure more reliably. This change affects build setup and does not add or change any user-facing features.
The xxhash CMake configuration now sets CPM_DONT_UPDATE_MODULE_PATH to ON before generating the xxhash find module.
The setup enables CPM_DONT_UPDATE_MODULE_PATH before generating the xxhash find module. Comments describe CPM's empty-stub redirect for find_package(Xxhash).
The change fixes cuDF's private xxhash setup leaking into find_package(Xxhash) for the rest of the build. A narrow edge case remains for parent projects that share the generated-module directory. Owners should be aware of it, but it should not block merge.

Keep the generated find module private.
If a parent already has the generated-module directory in CMAKE_MODULE_PATH, find_package(xxhash) can load cuDF’s module. Without a package config, the module can find a header and create an imported target with no location. Linking that target fails.
Isolate the module from other projects while preserving CPM’s local-package modes.
