seems like the runner is running out of disk space. we had that before, i think we just need to add the space clean up step that we have in other workflows.

@atoulme shall we get this over the line?
I resolved the merge conflicts already, but there's some issue with the golden tests. I ran the compose file to re-generate the golden files but got no output and some error messages I don't understand in the golden image.
