fix(web): build cached query callbacks at module scope - #9034
TanStack Query keeps a query's last observer options after the view that set them unmounts. They stay for gcTime (10 minutes by default), and indefinitely on a query that other views still observe. A queryFn, select or refetchInterval created inside a hook keeps that hook's scope alive. Through the scope, it keeps the accessors, Solid owner and DOM of the closed view. #9020 fixed the holders found by tracing the heap on iOS, where this memory growth gets WebContent killed for exceeding its memory limit. This PR converts the remaining sites and adds a rule so new ones fail CI.
Many of these callbacks also read the hook's accessors at fetch time, rather than the values in their own query key.
How it works
Each hook resolves its reactive inputs in the options accessor and passes plain values to a module-scope options factory, as .agents/rules/web/data.md already asked:
Converts 65 inline callback sites in 36 files to module-scope factories.
lib/queries: forms, meetings, team calendar, invitations, scheduled email, reminders, agent sessions, agent settings, AI billing, bot profiles, imports, GitHub.
features: databases, CRM, calendar, public scheduling, email compose and message operations, reviews, routines and settings.
The fetchQuery calls inside DraftComposer and the database query capabilities.
email-compose/queries/draft-lifecycle.ts and email-message/queries/message-operation.ts used hook-local variables inside cached callbacks: a refresh version counter, and a "reload once synchronized" flag. That state now lives in a small plain object that the factory receives.
tasks-view/queries/use-tasks-query.ts: scoped task lists passed an inline meta.insertFilter, which is cached with the options. taskInsertFilter now builds it from a snapshot taken in the options accessor.
starter-database.ts invalidates through the query function's own client instead of useQueryClient(). Its test mock gains queryOptions.
New ast-grep rule pair, ts-/tsx-no-inline-query-callbacks (CI error), documented as FE-69 in web/data.md. The rule flags functions written in useQuery / useInfiniteQuery / useQueries options. It also flags them in queryOptions and client fetchQuery-family calls inside a use*, create* or component function.
It ignores tests, browser-test and lib/urql-solid, whose observers are destroyed per mount.
It can't see callbacks that wrapper hooks forward, such as meta.itemFilter. data.md keeps that as prose, and the wrapper hooks were checked by hand.
Follow-ups
useMutation options follow the same pattern: the mutation cache keeps a finished mutation's options for its gcTime. They haven't been audited yet.
Why: TanStack keeps a query's last observer options after the view
unmounts, for gcTime or, on a query other views still observe, for the
session. Query hooks under lib/queries defined queryFn, select and
refetchInterval inline, so each kept its hook scope alive, and through
it the accessors, Solid owners and DOM of the view that mounted it. Most
also read those accessors at fetch time.
What: each hook resolves its inputs in the options accessor and passes
plain values to a module-scope options factory.
Why: a scoped task list passed an inline meta.insertFilter to the soup
query. Query meta is cached with the options, so the filter kept the
task view's state and accessors alive after the view closed.
What: taskInsertFilter builds the filter from a snapshot of the view
context, reference and CRM scope taken in the options accessor.
Why: feature query hooks (databases, CRM, calendar, scheduling, email
compose and message operations, reviews, routines, settings) and a few
components defined cached query callbacks inline, or passed them to
fetchQuery from a hook. The cached options kept the hook or component
scope alive after the view unmounted.
What: module-scope options factories over plain values. Draft lifecycle
and message operation reads keep their per-mount state in a small plain
object the factory receives, rather than in hook variables.
Why: the query callback lifetime rule was prose only, and new inline
callbacks kept arriving.
What: ast-grep ts-/tsx-no-inline-query-callbacks (CI error) flags
functions written in useQuery, useInfiniteQuery and useQueries options,
and in queryOptions or client fetchQuery-family options inside a hook,
create* or component function. The rule becomes FE-69 in web/data.md,
which now also notes that a shared query keeps its last observer's
options indefinitely.

Bug Fixes
Email provider operations now refresh related thread data, helping keep messages up to date.
Draft status checks now avoid applying results from an outdated refresh, reducing stale status updates.
Refactor
Improved consistency in how data is loaded across the app, with existing query behavior and settings preserved.
The pull request documents and enforces a rule against inline query callbacks in specified web query calls. It extracts query-option construction into reusable factories across web features and shared query modules, with existing query settings generally retained. It also updates starter-database query context handling and tests, email draft refresh-version tracking, message-operation reload handling, and task insert filtering.
Priority: Normal
Merge Risk: Low · previous review c4b46
A transient refresh failure can leave an email thread stale, and valid query code can fail CI. These are bounded issues, but the refresh retry and rule exclusion should be corrected.

Reset reload completion for each provider resolution.
If use_provider succeeds a second time, reload.done remains true from the first synchronized operation. The query function then skips the second synchronized reload. The same state also survives a change to the messageId accessor. Scope completion to the message and resolution attempt, and reset it when requesting a new reload.

Trace the synchronized-reload outcome.
This branch performs a multi-step reload after provider resolution, but it records no operation span, message or thread ID, or refresh outcome. Add a span with opaque IDs and separate refresh and invalidation timing. Record whether the reload completed or needs retry. As per coding guidelines, “Every new or changed flow must be debuggable from its trace alone” and “Record outcome on the span.”

Do not mark a failed thread refresh complete.
If the network-only GraphQL refresh fails, refreshEmailThreadCache catches the error and resolves. This branch still sets reload.done = true, so later synchronized polls cannot retry that cache refresh. Have the refresh helper report success, and mark the reload complete only after a successful refresh.

Why: the inline query callback rule exempted `combine: (results) => …`
but flagged the equivalent `combine(results) { … }` method, which also
lives on the per-mount observer rather than the query cache.
What: apply the combine exemption to method definitions in both twins.
