feat(sync-service): host multiplexed sync on a dedicated DSS socket - #8928
The multiplexed sync client depended on a router that was only wired into local development. Host it on a dedicated DSS WebSocket endpoint so dev and production can use the existing DSS deployment, without coupling document sync to the notification gateway protocol.
How it works
Browser -- notification socket --> connection_gateway
-- sync socket ---------> DSS /sync/ws
socket-owned sync_router
+-- document A --> sync-service DO A
+-- document B --> sync-service DO B
The sync socket authenticates the account. Each document subscription carries its own scoped token, validated by the downstream sync service. Bebop envelopes multiplex documents; existing inner chunking and CRDT messages pass through unchanged. Each DSS replica owns only its own sockets, and reconnecting recreates subscriptions with fresh tokens.
What
Replace the standalone Redis router with a reusable routing library hosted at DSS /sync/ws; retain the connection gateway's existing generic behavior.
Point SyncRouterTransport at DSS while preserving the deployed PostHog key sync-via-gateway and its local override.
Bound message sizes and queued bytes, cancel downstream work on unsubscribe, and drain upgraded sockets during DSS shutdown.
Validate route epochs before terminal notifications and require a successful downstream handshake before acknowledging subscriptions.
Release unacknowledged updates immediately on disconnect so WAL replay can proceed after a fast reconnect.
Propagate trace context through browser, DSS, and downstream WebSockets; update deployment dependency metadata and architecture documentation.
Embed a router per authenticated gateway socket so multiplexed document
sync ships through the existing gateway deployment. Remove the standalone
Redis relay and bind downstream cancellation to socket ownership.

New Features
Document synchronization can now be routed through the connection gateway when sync-via-gateway is enabled, while other traffic continues to use its existing routing.
Sync sessions are isolated per client connection, and closing a connection cancels its associated sync work.
Behavior Changes
If a sync delivery queue is unavailable, the affected document route closes instead of silently dropping frames.
Gateway deployments must include the embedded sync router and be fully deployed before enabling the setting. Existing sessions keep their selected transport.
Documentation
Added setup and deployment guidance for gateway-based document synchronization.
The sync router now runs as a library embedded in the connection gateway. Each gateway WebSocket has a sync session that forwards document frames to downstream sync-service connections and returns responses to the owning socket. The gateway validates its configured sync-service URL and tracks cancellation of routing tasks. The PR removes the Redis fanout protocol and standalone sync-router service, and updates local deployment configuration, dependency metadata, and documentation.
Priority: Normal
Merge Risk: Low · previous review 232cc
A sync-service override containing a path can route document connections to the wrong endpoint. Reject non-origin values at startup; the issue is bounded to that configuration.

Explanation
The title uses conventional commit format and is 67 characters, under the 72-character limit. It names the scope (sync-service) and the main change (hosting multiplexed sync on a dedicated DSS socket), which matches the changeset: a sync_router is moved into crates/sync_router, wired into DSS /sync/ws, and the standalone router is removed.

Explanation
The description explains the motivation (the multiplexed sync client depended on a router only wired into local development), the architecture (sync socket on DSS /sync/ws with socket-owned sync_router), and a list of concrete changes such as replacing the standalone Redis router, updating SyncRouterTransport, bounding message sizes, and updating deployment metadata and docs. These all match the changeset.

Host socket-owned routing in DSS so the multiplexed client can use the existing deployment independently of notification traffic.
Bound transport queues, drain downstream work during shutdown, reject stale route failures, and release pending acknowledgements for reconnect replay.
