V1 plugin implementations do not run on OpenCode v2 (server rejects them with PluginModule.LoadError: default export must be an object with id and effect/setup). Port the ECC hooks plugin to Plugin.define({ id, setup }): tool/shell/permission/session hooks re-registered on their v2 domains, session lifecycle via ctx.event.subscribe (session.created/idle/deleted, filesystem.changed), compaction context via the session hook, custom tools via ctx.tool.transform. file.edited folds into execute.after; todo.updated is dropped (no v2 equivalent). Also fix opencode.json (plugins key, drop CWD-relative skills.paths and unshipped instruction refs) and add @opencode/plugin as a dependency. Tests updated to drive setup with a mock v2 context.

Route plugin logs through the OpenCode logging API.
The v1 plugin used client.app.log, but the v2 port writes routine hook messages directly to console.*. Use the v2 equivalent of client.app.log so logging remains controlled by OpenCode. Keep warnings and errors visible if the v2 API does not support the same levels.

OpenCode v2.0.27 plugin API tool.execute event.tool shell permission.evaluate event.action bash shell official documentation
💡 Result:
For **OpenCode v2**, the official plugin docs show these APIs:
- **Tool execution:** `ctx.tool.hook("execute.before", ...)`; the event identifies the tool with `event.tool`. The docs’ example checks `"read"`—they don’t establish that the built-in shell tool’s ID is `"shell"`. ([dev.opencode.ai](https://dev.opencode.ai/v2/docs/build/plugins/?utm_source=openai))
- **Permission evaluation:** `ctx.permission.hook("evaluate", ...)`; inspect `event.action` and `event.resources`, and modify `event.effect` if needed. The official V2 permissions docs use the action name **`shell`** and explicitly contrast it with V1’s **`bash`**. ([dev.opencode.ai](https://dev.opencode.ai/v2/docs/build/plugins/?utm_source=openai))
So, in V2, use **`shell`** for the permission action—not `bash`. I couldn’t verify the exact `event.tool` value for shell against the published **v2.0.27** implementation: the available docs describe the current V2 API, not specifically that release. ([dev.opencode.ai](https://dev.opencode.ai/v2/docs/build/plugins/?utm_source=openai))

Use shell for OpenCode v2 permission actions.
OpenCode v2 reports the shell permission action as shell. The formatter and test auto-approval branches only match bash, so shell requests fall through without auto-approval. The tool-execution identifier is a separate contract and is not established here.

Delete the pendingToolChanges entry before the status check returns early.
execute.before adds an entry for every write call. execute.after returns at Line 334 when status !== "completed". That happens on errors and denials, and the entry is then never removed. Entries are cleared only on session.deleted. In long sessions with failed writes, the map keeps growing.

OpenCode v2.0.27 plugin permission hook evaluate event.resources shell raw command text
💡 Result:
Inspection citation: inspection_d4048f80b5cfcbdb7e0c59bf3d147313
**Yes—in the V2 permission `evaluate` hook, inspect `event.resources`.** For a shell permission check, resources are command text, but not necessarily the exact raw command the model submitted: the V2 permissions docs describe them as **scanner-produced command strings**, and compound commands may yield multiple resources. ([dev.opencode.ai](https://dev.opencode.ai/v2/docs/permissions/?utm_source=openai))
```ts
await ctx.permission.hook("evaluate", (event) => {
if (event.action !== "shell") return
for (const command of event.resources) {
// Check each scanner-produced command string.
}
})
```
The hook receives readonly `resources` and can change the permission `effect`; an explicit configured `deny` does not invoke it. ([dev.opencode.ai](https://dev.opencode.ai/v2/docs/build/plugins/?utm_source=openai))
**Version caveat:** I couldn’t verify the published implementation specifically for **v2.0.27**. The cited V2 docs establish the behavior, but don’t identify that release, so check the tag’s source if you need a version-specific guarantee.

Harden shell auto-approval before switching the permission action to shell.
OpenCode v2.0.27 exposes event.resources as a readonly array of command-resource strings. Compound commands can produce multiple resources. After the action check is corrected from bash to v2's shell, joining resources and checking only the first prefix can approve a safe resource while ignoring a later command. The missing boundary also matches names such as pytestx.
Check each resource separately, reject shell metacharacters, and require whitespace or the end of the string after each command name.

Harden the bash auto-approval checks in the permission handler: evaluate every
entry in event.resources separately and approve only when the array is non-empty
and all resources are non-empty, contain no shell metacharacters, and match the
allowed command at its start with whitespace or end-of-string as the boundary.
Apply this to both formatter and test-command checks, and update the action
comparison to v2’s shell value.

official OpenCode v2.0.27 permission hook evaluate event effect allow ask default .env permission rule
💡 Result:
Inspection citation: inspection_369d4f523a91894339132892d0e0ab9d
In **OpenCode v2.0.27**, the V2 plugin hook is `ctx.permission.hook("evaluate", callback)`. It runs after configured permission rules are evaluated and before the action proceeds or an approval prompt is published. The callback receives `event.action`, `event.resources`, and the current `event.effect`; it can set `event.effect` to `"allow"`, `"ask"`, or `"deny"`. Explicit configured `deny` decisions do not invoke the hook. ([dev.opencode.ai](https://dev.opencode.ai/v2/docs/build/plugins/?utm_source=openai))
For `.env` reads, add an ordered rule such as:
```json
{
"permissions": [
{ "action": "read", "resource": "*.env", "effect": "deny" },
{ "action": "read", "resource": "*.env.*", "effect": "deny" },
{ "action": "read", "resource": "*.env.example", "effect": "allow" }
]
}
```
V2 rules use the **last matching rule**; if none matches, the effect defaults to **`ask`**. So an explicit `deny` for `.env` files is final and won’t be changed by the evaluation hook. ([dev.opencode.ai](https://dev.opencode.ai/v2/docs/permissions/?utm_source=openai))
**Version caveat:** The official V2 docs establish this API and behavior, but I couldn’t verify them against the published `v2.0.27` implementation specifically. The separate V1 docs describe a different permission format and should not be used for V2 configuration. ([dev.opencode.ai](https://dev.opencode.ai/v2/docs/permissions/?utm_source=openai))

Preserve configured ask decisions for read-like actions.
The permission hook runs after rules set event.effect. This branch changes every read, glob, grep, search, and list request to allow, so an ask for .env files or external paths is silently approved. Return without changing the incoming effect.

Use or remove toolBeforeEvent; ESLint reports it as an unused variable.
ESLint reports 'toolBeforeEvent' is defined but never used (no-unused-vars). The suite registers captured.toolBefore but never calls it. The new write add/modify tracking in execute.before is therefore untested.
Add a test that calls captured.toolBefore[0](toolBeforeEvent("write", { path: "new.ts" })) and then calls toolAfter. Assert that the change is recorded as "added".

Replacing the plugin entry in the repository does not remove plugins/ecc-hooks.ts from an existing installation. Reinstalling with the new files leaves the old default-exported setup function beside the new index.ts. OpenCode v2 discovers both top-level files, so the incompatible old entry remains and continues producing the load error this port is intended to eliminate.
Add migration cleanup for the obsolete managed entry before merging, using its recorded content hash to preserve user-edited files.
Artifacts
- This authored script builds revision snapshots, invokes real install and repair commands, and inspects old-file hashes and state operations, making the executed checks reproducible.
- This shell wrapper executes the validation script and records command, working directory, and exit code with captured output, providing the proof capture procedure.
- The first real base installation was attempted without explicit hook consent and rejected, showing why subsequent base installs used --enable-hooks.
- Four isolated base installations were created and their plugin hashes and managed state inspected, showing that the old module existed and was tracked before upgrade.
- Head commands were executed against base fixtures with compatibility reductions explicitly logged, showing retained stale-plugin tracking after reinstall and a missing-source repair failure.
- Head reinstall was invoked against untouched base-generated state and rejected request.hookConsent, showing that the exact base-to-head path did not reach successful refresh.
- A reduced-scope reinstall completed and the candidate's tracking-loss assertion failed against observed state, showing that the stale module remained managed.
- The exact @opencode/cli@2.0.27 package was installed successfully in an isolated location, establishing target executable availability but not loader behavior.

If the event subscription throws an unexpected error, this outer catch treats it as an expected unload and silently ends the loop. Session audits, cleanup, and filesystem tracking then stop for that plugin instance without a diagnostic. This is a non-blocking observability concern: users have no explanation for the missing checks.
Check controller.signal.aborted and log failures that were not caused by unloading.

- The base plugin was compiled and its equivalent lifecycle and filesystem callbacks were executed, showing later auditing and cleanup still work through independent callbacks.
- The built v2 plugin was exercised with healthy, non-abort failure, and unload cases, showing unexpected failure silently leaves all four later events unconsumed.

Thank you for starting the OpenCode 2 port. Moving the hook registration to the V2 API addresses a real break for users, and the live reports on this PR helped expose installation behavior our tests missed. I am sorry it took us this long to route the branch. This version cannot land as it stands: a fresh install still loads the plugin twice and reports a duplicate plugin ID, as described in the live v2.0.28 test above. The v2.0.29 follow-up also found remaining installed-layout and tool registration gaps. Repairing those alongside this branch's package, lockfile, and release changes is a substantial rework, while the more focused dual-contract path is being reviewed in #3676. I am closing this version to avoid parallel ports, and we will carry the useful loader and install findings into that review. Thank you for the contribution, and a small follow-up around a remaining isolated gap would be welcome. |

Problem: V1 plugin implementations do not run on OpenCode v2. The server rejects the old default-exported setup function on every run: PluginModule.LoadError, default export must be an object with id and effect/setup. All ECC hooks and both custom tools were silently dead.
