**Date:** 29 May 2026
**Time:** 7:00 PM – 8:00 PM
**Platform:** Zoom
**Attendees:** Margaret Ekerendu, Regina Nkenchor

## Agenda

1. Growth of InnerSource in Africa
2. Building the InnerSource Africa community
3. Social media and content strategy
4. InnerSource Africa Conference 2026 planning
5. Increasing awareness of InnerSource Commons in Africa

## Discussions

### 1. Challenges Facing the Growth of InnerSource in Africa

The meeting focused on the current barriers hindering the adoption and growth of InnerSource across Africa. It was noted that there is still a significant knowledge gap, with many individuals and organizations unfamiliar with the concept and benefits of InnerSource.

### 2. Awareness of InnerSource Commons in Africa

A major concern raised was that several companies already practicing InnerSource principles are unaware that the InnerSource Commons community exists in Africa. This presents an opportunity to increase visibility, connect with these organizations, and encourage their participation in the community.

### 3. Building the InnerSource Africa Community

The team discussed various strategies for strengthening and growing the InnerSource Africa community, including:

- Increasing awareness through educational content and storytelling.
- Engaging practitioners and organizations already implementing InnerSource practices.
- Leveraging social media platforms to foster conversations and community engagement.
- Creating opportunities for collaboration and knowledge sharing among members.

### 4. Social Media Presence and Content Strategy

The team agreed that building a stronger presence on LinkedIn and X (formerly Twitter) is essential to increasing awareness and driving community engagement.

**Action items:**

- Margaret Ekerendu will create and curate content for the community's LinkedIn and X pages.
- The initial content strategy will involve sharing videos and highlights from the 2025 InnerSource Africa Summit to showcase the impact of the community and reignite conversations around InnerSource in Africa.
- Margaret Ekerendu will develop a content calendar outlining the social media strategy and share it with Regina Nkenchor for review and alignment.

### 5. InnerSource Africa Conference 2026

The team proposed moving the first African conference to November 2026. However, it was agreed that the conference timeline will depend largely on the growth and engagement of the community over the coming months. The decision will be reviewed periodically based on community readiness.

## Key Decisions

- Prioritize community growth through awareness and engagement initiatives.
- Increase the visibility of InnerSource Commons in Africa and connect with organizations already practicing InnerSource.
- Strengthen the community's presence on LinkedIn and X through consistent content creation.
- Tentatively schedule the first InnerSource Africa Conference for November 2026, subject to community growth and readiness.
