x402 implements HTTP 402 Payment Required for programmatic USDC payments over standard HTTP. It enables machine-to-machine stablecoin transactions on Base, Arbitrum, and other EVM chains — a practical application of USDC as a payment medium for API access and agent-to-agent commerce.
