I’m not using Duende IdentityServer in production yet, but I’m currently building my application with the intention of using the pricing model that was available for IdentityServer 7.

Would it still be possible for me to stay on IDS7 and use the IDS7 pricing model, or is that pricing model now only available to existing paying customers?

If the IDS7 pricing model is no longer available to new customers, would it make more sense for me to upgrade to IDS8, even though I don’t currently intend to use the new features?

@normandev92 The previous pricing model is no longer available (except for existing customers that have been grandfathered in). Even when using IdentityServer v7, the new model applies.

In terms of upgrading to v8, I personally would do the upgrade if only to benefit from the API surface improvements (CancellationToken is now explicit, nullable annotations, ...). Know that both v7 and v8 are actively supported right now. v7 will receive bugfixes and security updates, but expect new functionality, API enhancements, extensibility improvements etc. to come to v8.

But I notice that Automatic Key Management is only in advanced, whereas we have it now.

@aaronclawrence You can keep using your existing license (grandfathered into the old plans). Feel free to reach out via our sales channel to look at your specific situation, but all you'd need to work with v8 right now is a license key in the new format (also there, sales can issue).
