Expected behavior of Array in modifiers?

I'm trying to figure out if I should hack a solution for the provider I'm using or work on changing the way arrays are handled in the merge process with modifiers?

  image: {
    provider: 'directus'
    directus: {
      ...
      modifiers: {
        transforms: [['grayscale']]
      }
    }
  }
})

<NuxtImg
  provider="directus"
  ...
  :modifiers="{
    transforms: [['tint', 'purple']]
  }"
/>

As far as I can tell, Directus is the only provider that uses arrays in the modifiers object. I'm not sure how much this matters to anyone else but hoping for a sanity check on what the behavior you would expect.
