Yep — if you're trying to install beta7, M5Burner is usually the easiest and recommended way to do it. I also realized the beta7 release page gives you the If you want to flash it manually, the beta7 download is a complete firmware image, so it gets flashed to py -m esptool --chip esp32p4 --port COM17 --baud 460800 --before default_reset --after hard_reset write_flash 0x0 OrcSDR-Tab5-v0.2.0-beta7.binJust replace One important thing with the current update process: upgrading through M5Burner currently resets the device settings, including saved Wi-Fi and other configuration. The current package writes the complete flash image, which overwrites the NVS area where those settings are stored. We're working on persistence/backup and restore so updates won't require setting everything back up each time. So for now I'd recommend M5Burner for the simplest install, just make note of your settings before upgrading. And thanks for testing beta7 — the feedback is genuinely useful. |

Just adding an update here because OrcSDR's documentation has grown quite a bit since my original beta7 reply. The original instructions above were correct for beta7, but for anyone finding this discussion now, I'd recommend starting with the OrcSDR Wiki rather than trying to piece the setup together from old release comments. We've now built out a much more complete user guide covering:
Wiki: [/hardcoreerik/OrcSDR/wiki](/hardcoreerik/OrcSDR/wiki) For a new install, start here: Getting Started: [/hardcoreerik/OrcSDR/wiki/Getting-Started](/hardcoreerik/OrcSDR/wiki/Getting-Started) M5Burner is still the easiest way to do a clean install of a published OrcSDR release. One thing to be aware of is that a full M5Burner install can reset saved settings such as Wi-Fi profiles, location and display settings. Current releases also provide a settings-safe installer for upgrades. That installer updates the OrcSDR application without intentionally overwriting the saved settings/NVS area, so once you're already running OrcSDR that's generally the nicer update path. The wiki also has a Troubleshooting section now, so if something doesn't behave as expected — SDR not detected, no audio, empty dashboard, Wi-Fi trouble, etc. — that's a good place to start before digging into serial commands. And of course, please keep using Discussions if something isn't clear. The documentation has gotten much better, but questions from new Tab5/M5Burner users are useful because they show us where the instructions still need work. |
