Hi,

I wasn't able to find a benchmark between Paper and Pluto.

If possible, can you explain how much resources does Pluto consume compared to Paper?

Every setup is different so providing benchmarks is a bit tricky. You can find some benchmark numbers in the patch files on branch ver/1.21.3, but they probably won't reflect most servers nowadays due to Minecraft getting more and more inefficient per update.

Memory usage is probably the same as Paper, but might be slightly higher due to the async spawning features. Memory allocation rate will probably be lower too, unfortunately the numbers I have are from before Pluto existed (8 years ago) so it wouldn't be a fair comparison as current versions create a huge amount of allocations compared to 1.12.2. Though back then I did see a paper server use ~15GB/s compared to 8GB/s with my patches at the time.

Overall the performance of a server depends on what the owner decides for the gameplay loop. It is why some servers can handle up to 300 players with just Paper while others drop below 20 TPS with 100 players.

I probably should create a benchmarks document seeing as the file based patches don't support comments and that the existing benchmarks are outdated.
