ISISDATA Kernel DB files in OSIRIS-REx CK and SPK directories are out of date #6076

Description

@KrisBecker

ISIS version(s) affected: all

Description

The OSIRIS-REx CK and SPK NAIF SPICE kernel DB files in $ISISDATA/osirisrex/kernels are out of date.

The last date of kernel coverage in the most recent file, $ISISDATA/osirisrex/kernels/ck/kernels.0001.db, for the CKs is "2020 AUG 24 00:15:51.224457 TDB" whereas CK kernels exist with coverage up to "2023 OCT 02 00:15:52.938410 TDB".

The last date of kernel coverage in the most recent file, $ISISDATA/osirisrex/kernels/spk/kernels.0004.db, for the SPKs is "2020 SEP 08 17:01:09.182509 TDB" whereas SPK kernels exist with coverage up to "2023 OCT 01 00:00:00.000000 TDB".

The existing DB files of kernels contained in the OSIRIS-REx CK and SPK directories do not include coverage for images acquired during the TAG event which occurred on October 20, 2020, or the Farewell tour which were acquired on April 7, 2021.

Nominally, the kernel DBs will need to be updated by running makedb when new SPICE kernels are uploaded to the OSIRIS-REx SPICE Kernel Archive Bundle archive site and then downloaded to the USGS distribution archive.

NOTE: Users should be able to run the makedb scripts in the ISISDATA CK and SPK directories after downloading the OSIRIS-REx kernels using the downloadIsisData script.

How to reproduce

Run spiceinit on any OREX OCAMS image acquired during TAG or the Farewell tour and it fails reporting no kernels found.

Possible Solution

Rerun the makedb scripts found in each of the $ISISDATA/osirisrex/kernels/ck and $ISISDATA/osirisrex/kernels/spk directories after updating/download to your local ISISDATA archive.
